About Jennifer
Jen Finn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with six years of experience helping adults and young adults navigate a wide range of mental health and life challenges. She earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Syracuse University and has developed expertise in areas including anxiety, depression, trauma-informed care, grief, anger management, relationship concerns, and life transitions. Jen brings specialized experience working with individuals involved in the justice system, supporting those navigating reentry and adjustment following incarceration. Her practice is grounded in the belief that people are capable of meaningful change when they feel heard, respected, and supported in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
Jen takes a client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to therapy, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused interventions. She believes therapy should be collaborative and individualized rather than one-size-fits-all, and she works to meet clients where they are—particularly those who may have had difficult experiences with mental health services or other systems. Her goal is to help clients better understand the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical coping skills they can use in everyday life to foster personal growth and well-being.
What Jen finds most rewarding about her work is witnessing clients recognize their own strengths and begin to see possibilities they may not have previously considered. She especially values those moments when a client develops greater insight, sets a healthy boundary, or realizes they have more control over their future than they believed. Outside of the therapy room, Jen enjoys lifting weights, reading, watching football and wrestling, walking her puppy, and engaging with local advocacy groups. She became a therapist to channel her deep sense of empathy with purpose—using it intentionally as a tool for connection and change to help people build confidence, resilience, and healthier ways of moving through life.
