About Alex
Alex Elizondo, LCSW-R, C-SWHC, C-AWSMCM, brings over 26 years of clinical experience supporting individuals through some of life's most challenging moments. Since earning his MSW from Adelphi University in 2000, Alex has built a distinguished career serving diverse populations including adults, veterans, and law enforcement professionals across federal, military, VA, and community settings. His clinical expertise spans medical and psychiatric disorders, trauma, depression, and anxiety, and he is certified in both Social Work in Healthcare and Advanced Workforce Substance Misuse Case Management. Drawing from his deployment to Afghanistan as Officer in Charge of Behavioral Health and his ongoing work with the U.S. Marshals Service providing critical incident response, Alex understands firsthand the importance of meeting people with respect, cultural humility, and evidence-based care during times of crisis and transition.
Alex's therapeutic approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, integrating modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Oriented Interventions, Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychological First Aid. He believes that effective therapy requires balancing clinical expertise with genuine human connection, and he works to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore challenges, build insight, and develop practical skills that support resilience and well-being. Whether supporting soldiers under extreme stress, veterans navigating complex systems, or federal employees recovering from traumatic incidents, Alex prioritizes clarity, empowerment, and dignity in every interaction. His philosophy is grounded in the belief that people thrive when they are met where they are and given the right support to move toward where they want to be.
What drives Alex's work is witnessing people reclaim a sense of control and possibility in their lives. He is continually inspired by the courage his clients show when they allow themselves to be vulnerable and engage in the hard work of change—whether that's a veteran rebuilding after homelessness, a law enforcement professional processing a critical incident, or an individual working through trauma or loss. Alex is committed to restoring not just stability, but hope, and he considers it a privilege to walk alongside people during their most difficult moments. Outside of his clinical work, Alex enjoys attending sporting events and staying connected to his community.
